"After 40,000 miles on our Ultra limited, it has seen some areas of paint wear. The lower area of the tank, the engine side covers, and saddle bag tops seem to get the most abrasion. Add in the fairing with bugs, rocks etc…I was wondering how to protect Big Blue on our upcoming 3,500 mile round trip to Sturgis.
At a recent dealer fair I came across a guy representing his company Cruz Armor. He demonstrated samples of abraded areas when covered with his magic vinyl looked better than show room fresh. And then when he used a wire brush on the treated areas that didn’t show a mere blemish, I figured WTF I’ll give it a try.
He is an independent business. He has worked with several of the major vinyl suppliers to develop what works best for clarity and damage protection. He even has done his own CAD modeling, to use a CAD cutter to create each specific piece. He is located in Murrieta, Ca and will meet you at the larger Southern California dealerships, or at you house if you have a clean area to work. He also sells all of his kits on line.
He can arrange to install as per the preceding, or he has a good business of selling the kits to do it your self. I contacted him to come to my house and do the install in my garage. I had him do the full front fairing, fuel tank, side covers, and saddle bag lids. It took him about 4 hours to do the install. And the results are amazing. It looks like I had a bunch of coats of polished lacquer put on my paint. It leveled out the factory orange peel, hid 95% of the abrasion and micro scratches…and looks absolutely awesome.
I selected the gloss. And he also does a satin for the satin type finishes.
I can’t say enough positive about how well it turned out. And he’s a great guy to work with. He will be at Sturgis in the Indian area. So, try to check him out."
