Frequently asked questions
At CruzArmor we recommend hand washing all Motorcycles. But, if you decide to use a heavier option like a power-washer, just avoid direct contact with the edges of the material or you could definitely lift the edges.
Our soap and alcohol mix instructions are included with each kit. The soap mixture is about 8 small pea-sized drops of Johnson & Johnson's Baby Shampoo in 32 oz. of water. The alcohol/anchor mixture is 75% water mixed with 25% Isopropyl Alcohol (70% concentration).
We recommend installing CruzArmor in warmer weather, ideally between 60-80 degrees Fahrenheit. For lower temperatures around 50 degrees, reduce the soap content by a drop or two and be patient during anchoring. For temperatures above 90 degrees, add a drop or two of soap and keep everything soaked with the solution as it dries quicker.
At CruzArmor we want you happy and protected! Just reach out to us directly and we'll figure out a solution that best fits your situation!
Yes, you can reposition the film during installation. Use the soap and water mixture to keep the surface wet, allowing you to slide and adjust the film until it is perfectly aligned. Once satisfied, use the squeegee tool to remove excess water and secure the film in place.
To maintain CruzArmor Pre-Cut Protection Kits, regularly clean the protected surfaces with mild soap and water. Avoid using harsh chemical cleaners that could damage the film. Use a clean microfiber towel to wipe the surfaces and periodically apply a coat of urethane-safe wax or ceramic coating to enhance the protection. Avoid aggressive rubbing or using dry towels, as this may scratch the film.
At CruzArmor when you order a kit there will be an Instruction card (including details on install & soap alcohol mixture), squeegee tool & pre-cut material to fit the most vulnerable surfaces. Won't include needed Johnsons Baby Shampoo, Isopropyl Alcohol or spray bottle.
When handling corners and curves, use the squeegee tool to carefully stretch and smooth the film over the surface. Take your time and work slowly to avoid wrinkles and bubbles. If needed, use a heat gun on a low setting to help the film conform to the shape.
Best option is to have the area buffed & detailed prior to installing CruzArmor film, however, our high-gloss, self-healing film does become the new top-coat surface, and dulled or micro scratched paint will actually look new underneath CruzArmor. If however, you have deeper scratches or nicks that are through the color, or that you can feel with your finger nail, or, surface scratches/damage that extends outside of the protection kit pattern area, then we would recommend you have paint correction done prior to installing CruzArmor, to end up with the highest quality finished look.
CruzArmor protection can be removed easily years down the road, without damaging the underlying painted surface, and will not leave behind all of the adhesive, like many of the protective films on the market. Here is a quick removal video to show the process:
For a brand-new motorcycle, we recommend using the Clear Fork Kit to keep your fork legs and cans free from scratches, nicks, or chips. If your fork legs have pitting, nicks, or chips from riding, the Black Fork Kit will conceal them and keep them looking new.
At CruzArmor our Left and Right will be while seated on your Motorcycle. So when receiving a DIY or Professional Kit. The L & R applies to your Motorcycle while in riding position!
At CruzArmor we created a ratio that works! (To see recipe look at our FaQ's) If you find that the CruzArmor material keeps sliding around, and doesn’t want to tack, then add more water to your slip mix. If it seems to tack/stick too aggressively, then you need another drop or two of soap in your mix.
To extend the life and beauty of your CruzArmor product, we recommend washing with mild soap & water, no harsh chemical cleaners. Use clean micro fiber towels when wiping clean. We recommend periodically applying a coat of urethane safe wax or ceramic coat to both the CruzArmor, as well as the other painted surfaces of your vehicle. If a buildup of dirt or wax occurs along the edge of the protective material, use a wet Q-tip, or wet micro fiber towel to clean the edges. Do not aggressively rub towels, especially dry towels, or brushes on protective film, as this may scratch or dull the glossy surface.
